Homeless

I have a new idea for the Homeless in Connecticut

"The House of Compassion "
For the unknown souls in need

I have met some very wonderful people recently. They happen to be sleeping outside, in their cars or 3 to a bed in motels.

One beautiful lady is raising 3 lovely children not her own. She fed me and my son from what little they had.

A disabled woman doing her best to provide for 2 hungry growing boys after loosing her job . And a young mother with the most beautiful baby suffering from birth defects struggling to find help alone... and a wonderful teacher with failing health offering her skills as a tutor to my son ... I have never met a braver nor more generous group of individuals in all my life.

These people are our sisters, daughters, neighbors etc. they are you after divorce extended layoffs or cancer or any one of a dozen reasons that leave people suffering financial devastation .

These are only a few of the thousands that are effectively homeless .  They will be sent from one Dept to another make dozens of calls and wait while they are hungry ,in pain, desperate and extremely vulnerable.  I know. I walk among them. I also know there is a better way to help them than to place them on entitlements and walk away.

True, some may have given up hope and settle for that as a way of life, but many more are hungry for hope in life. Most people respond really well to the idea of getting off state and government aide in exchange for a better life of an entrepreneurial  nature. All it takes is encouragement,  a willingness to teach new skills for a fresh start in a new direction.

This will require help. Your help. It will mean people sharing their skills , talents and assets in a joint effort . A new kind of community of help. The status quo no longer serves us. It's outdated and overwhelmed.

I have an idea... I call it the house of compassion. A place where people finding themselves in such a position as this can go for help without solely relying upon the government entitlements. A decent safe place to heal, regroup, receive support, and/ or training for a new direction in life.
I'm still developing this in my heart but it feels right.   This is  what it is to be the hands and feet of Jesus .

All I know is if you help me, and we get this off the ground I can help the ones I find in need and some day , it just may be you... I pray that none of you ever has to experience what I am bearing witness to.

One of the first things I need after settling  my own housing issue is someone with accounting skills willing to donate their time and set up the legal documents for a 501C3 and articles of incorporation etc.

I ask for your support as a Minister of Faith in the making of a new life, for myself, my son and for the unknown souls that are suffering and desperate for real help in a world that does not see clearly what needs to be done.

More information will be forthcoming. Thank you for reading and responding to the call of the poor, the hurting and the oppressed .
