Nurturing

What do you think of when you think of nurturing?

Scents that emit a soothing feeling that comforts the soul...  Like the smell of a toasty wood fire... Or the unmistakable smell of fresh bread baking in the oven...

The feel of being wrapped in a soft fluffy blanket... even the gentle creak of the old wooden rocker, with its steady creak, thud, creak thud...

These are a few things that come to my mind when I seek to comfort myself.

Though there is no safer, more heartwarming feeling this side of heaven than being a babe wrapped in the crook of my heavenly Fathers embrace, gently rocking to the beat of His divine heart...

He does this for all of His precious children, who by the way, you are ...  Though we may be grown in years, we are ever His tiny and priceless treasures, as babes in swaddling clothes by comparison...

How do I know ?  Because I see and feel this priceless gift that He freely gives... And as He has freely given to me, so shall I give...

When I was hurting, He held me... tenderly cradling my aching heart... Speaking to my soul of just how much He cherishes me .... Gently coaxing me out of my own shell to share this delight with the rest of His little ones whom He so desires to gently rock with His most tender love...

He waits for us to call to Him as a Father, to come and heal us and be our help, our source of comfort.

And then He leads us to another in need of the same tender divine love...  And I find myself rocking a tiny babe in the same fashion , praying comforting grace right into the heart of another... another priceless treasure of my Beloved Father in heaven... and the more I do this the more I am filled to overflowing with His divine love...

The first time I experienced this , I did not know who I was rocking and blessing... Then the Lord spoke so gently and tenderly ,  this one priceless child was the one I had not been able to forgive...the very one who had caused me the most grievous harm... and here I was doting on him as if they were the most valuable treasure in heaven...

This is how I learned to forgive the unforgivable... To allow grace to go before me and do what I previously found impossible... This is how I found grace... For him, for me... This is how I learned to love as Jesus loves... To be truly free, you must let go, forgive, allow grace to fill those old wounds, and heal...

I can tell you this, when you hold a newborn babe, there is no room for anger,  unforgiveness, bitterness nor any other anti- loving emotion... There's only tender , divine grace.  This is how God sees you... me... each of us...  Forgiven, free, cherished as a newborn babe...  So tender is His love toward you...  So prevalent is His gracious mercy to all who call upon His holy name.

If we saw each other the way God sees us, we could experience a bit of heaven on earth...

Nurture your soul and anyone else's that God places in your heart... bless those who hurt you...  change the way you look upon each other and see what divine love can do...

May His tenderest touch of grace envelope you today...
